On Friday, June 6, the West Alabama Food & Wine Festival awarded $35,000 each to the Humane Society of West Alabama and Turning Point Alabama, a nonprofit that offers support services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
“We are absolutely overjoyed to receive this incredible donation from the West Alabama Food & Wine Festival,” said Tina Miller, HSWA Board Chair. “Our heartfelt thanks go to the Festival board, as well as the vendors and patrons whose kindness and support made this gift possible. This contribution will directly impact our ability to rescue and heal abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs and cats, giving them a second chance at life and helping them find loving, forever homes. We are so grateful to be part of a community that is filled with generosity, compassion, and goodwill.”
The West Alabama Food & Wine Festival was started over ten years ago as a way to raise money for local nonprofits through an event showcasing the best food and beverages available in the Tuscaloosa area. Since 2013, the event has distributed more than $280,000.
